Supplier portrait: Huawei FusionSolar – technologies for a sustainable energy future

Huawei is a global provider of information and communication technology with many years of experience in various technology sectors. The company stands for quality and innovation. Recently, IBC SOLAR and Huawei have formed a close partnership. Therefore, we would like to introduce our partner and its solutions in detail in this blog post.

Facts and figures

Huawei employs around 207,000 people in over 170 countries and operates six business units, including the Digital Power division. This division is committed to integrating digital and power electronics technologies, developing clean energy, and digitizing energy supply. Huawei has been active in Germany since 2001, with over 2,000 employees at 18 locations. The company’s largest European research center is located in Munich.

One of the many great products at Huawei: the LUNA energy storage system.

FusionSolar product line

At the heart of the collaboration is the FusionSolar product brand, which provides integrated solutions for various photovoltaic requirements. The systems combine inverters, energy storage, and energy management in a modular concept suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

The right solution for every scenario

For efficient energy consumption in the home sector, Huawei offers a complete system with the LUNA-S1 energy storage, the SUN2000-MAP0 inverter, and the three-phase backup solution, the SmartGuard-T0 with integrated Energy Management Assistant (EMMA). This allows homeowners to achieve economical self-consumption with the highest level of comfort and comprehensive safety. For example, the LUNA-S1 storage system features a five-level safety concept that includes cell monitoring, overcurrent protection, a robust housing, and an automatic fire extinguishing function, making it one of the safest solutions on the market.

For commercial and industrial (C&I) applications, larger systems such as the LUNA-215 kWh storage or the SUN2000-150K-MG0 inverter are used. The components are coordinated to reduce installation and maintenance efforts while ensuring efficient operation.

Research and development

Huawei invests heavily in research and development – according to the company, more than half of the approximately 208,000 employees work in this area. In Germany, Huawei operates an Innovation Center for Power Electronics in Nuremberg, which plays an important role in the development of photovoltaic technologies. This commitment to research and local development brings direct benefits to IBC SOLAR customers in the form of future-proof, high-performance, and reliable solutions.

A strong partnership for the energy transition

Huawei is not only a technology partner but also a key driver of the global energy transition. The focus is on the digitization and electrification of energy supply – with the goal of reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting the expansion of renewable energies. The goal of the partnership with IBC SOLAR is clear: together, we want to sustainably shape the photovoltaic industry and actively contribute to the transition to a greener, digitized energy future.
