Energy Autonomy in the Paraguayan Chaco: Agroganadera La Huella Goes Hybrid

Challenge

Agroganadera La Huella, one of Paraguay’s largest cattle ranches, operates in the remote Chaco region — 700 km from Asunción and far beyond the reach of the national grid. Until recently, its operations relied on diesel generators, an expensive and inefficient solution. With expansion plans ahead, the ranch sought a reliable, sustainable, and autonomous energy supply that could grow with its needs while cutting costs and environmental impact.

Solution

IBC SOLAR provided a hybrid photovoltaic system tailored to the ranch’s unique conditions. The installation includes:

The system delivers a reliable 24/7 energy supply, is fully scalable up to 300 kW, and is protected with climate-controlled technical rooms to withstand extreme Chaco temperatures exceeding 50 °C.

Impact

The hybrid system already supplies a steady 60 kW of clean power, generating 180,000–200,000 kWh per year and reducing up to 70 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. For La Huella, the benefits are clear:

  • Energy independence: No reliance on fossil fuels or external grids.
  • Cost optimization: Lower operating expenses compared to diesel.
  • Sustainable growth: Reliable, scalable power to match ranch expansion.
  • Environmental leadership: A greener footprint in harmony with the Chaco ecosystem.

This project marks another milestone for IBC SOLAR in Latin America, showcasing how hybrid systems can transform rural operations into resilient, future-ready enterprises.
