Washing, drying, vacuuming: a modern car wash requires electricity throughout its daily operations. In Villach, Austria, IBC SOLAR partner KROMA has equipped two roof areas of a modern car wash facility with a 273 kWp photovoltaic system.
The site combines an automatic tunnel car wash with self-service washing facilities and a central vacuum cleaning system. With several electricity-consuming processes operating during the day, the facility offers suitable conditions for using solar electricity directly on site.
588 modules across two roofs
The system consists of 588 Trina Vertex S+ modules with an output of 465 W each, installed on two separate roof areas using the IBC SOLAR AeroFix mounting system for flat roofs.
Three Fronius inverters – one Verto and two Argeno – provide a combined nominal inverter capacity of 275 kW. IBC FlexiSun PV cables complete the system.
IBC SOLAR supplied the PV components for the project, while KROMA was responsible for installation and commissioning on site.
Solar power directly at the point of consumption
The c
ombination of daytime electricity demand and available roof space makes photovoltaics particularly suitable for this application. When generation and consumption coincide, the solar electricity can be used directly to operate the car wash, reducing the amount of electricity drawn from the grid.
The project in Villach shows how existing commercial roof space can be used for on-site electricity generation – combining IBC SOLAR components with KROMA’s local installation expertise.
