A lot has happened in 2020. The fact is, as for many others, it was an exciting year for the solar industry. Now that Christmas is fast approaching, it is once again time for us to review everything and look back. Here you can read our highlights from 2020.
January to March
The new year started immediately for IBC SOLAR with a few announcements in the company: From a new management team at our subsidiary in the Netherlands to joining the industry association Solarpower Europe. There was also news out of Sweden: IBC SOLAR became a partner of the Solkompaniet Group in February. At the same time, we made a fresh start in the Spanish solar market with a reinforced team and an office in Valencia.
IBC SOLAR Energy also got off to a very successful start in the new year: A large-scale project in Japan providing fresh drinking water in Hanoi with the aid of solar, and in Hungary, construction began on a 43 MWp solar park in Kaba. The project is currently the largest grid-connected solar park in the country.
April to June
Not surprisingly, but nevertheless a feature that was sadly noted within the industry: The cancellation of Intersolar in Munich – corona unfortunately had us firmly in its grip for the first time during that period and caused unprecedented circumstances.
But there was also positive news: In addition to the expansion of our AeroFix mounting system to include the narrow G2 Eco base rail, we were particularly pleased about the market launch of our high-voltage storage system era:powerbase.
On the 1st of June, we welcomed Stefan Horstmann as a new member of the Executive Board as COO. We then also strengthened our position with regards to the “business segment”. The newly established Commercial Energy Systems department, “CES” for short, specialises in the promising commercial sector and supports our professional partners in Germany in the planning and implementation of complex commercial systems.
July to September
The summer was marked by a digital alternative to the Intersolar trade fair. With the presentation of the IBC SOLAR Highlights 2020, we got closer to our specialist partners digitally. We guided them interactively through our latest products on the website and offered an extensive range of webinars. The real highlights were our three rooftop discussions. Our company founder Udo Möhrstedt, among others, used the opportunity via YouTube livestream to discuss current industry news, core markets and opportunities with the management.
At the same time and according to our high quality standards and testing, we were excited to announce the launch of our 15 years warranty on IBC SOLAR modules and IBC SOLAR mounting systems in combination.
We also welcomed a new partner to our portfolio in the summer. The inverter manufacturer GoodWe has been supplying us with its high-quality devices for the home and commercial sector since then.
October to December
With the commissioning of the Kabai solar park in Hungary, one of the most exciting projects has come to a successful end. The corona situation and its effects did not make it easy for the IBC SOLAR Energy team. We also reported on this in a “Making of” blog post. In the end, however, the planned construction phase of six months was adhered to – further proof that teamwork pays off.
The colleagues from the CES department also successfully completed another project by providing a car dealership from North Rhine-Westphalia with a complete PV system…and once again a year is drawing to a close.
We say a big “Thank You!” to all our blog readers, customers and specialist partners, and wish you a relaxing Christmas and a Happy New Year! Here’s to a healthy 2021!
