Unlike other countries, where residential self-consumption has been undergoing significant development for years, Spain was practically untouched until RD244/2019 came into force. Since then, and after a slow but continued adaptation on the part of all the agents involved, the residential market has been immersed in exponential growth since the end of 2019 to the present day. Spain has great potential and positive prospects thanks to the high availability of homes suitable for photovoltaic installations. Solar drinking water supply in Hanoi

Every now and then we report on the versatility of photovoltaics. It is used for different purposes all over the world. In Hanoi (Vietnam), for example, green solar power has been providing solar treatment of drinking water since the beginning of the year. There, our international project division, IBC SOLAR Energy, constructed a 2.7 MWp PV system for the water treatment plant of the AquaOne Group. (more…)

The right time for solar energy

Even though South Africa is still considered to be the most developed nation on the continent, the country is facing tremendous energy challenges like many other African countries. The Rainbow Nation’s energy provider Eskom is over indebted, operates mostly old generation facilities and struggles with an unstable grid. The utility provider is often not able to meet the country’s electricity demand and regularly implements “Load Shedding” – planned power cuts to avoid a breakdown of the system. In addition, Eskom is likely to implement a rise of electricity prices by 15 percent from July 2021 on after an increase of around 7 percent in July this year already. (more…)
