Italian class 1 fire certificate for the IBC SOLAR Line modules

Fire safety plays an important role in Italy, particularly when it comes to photovoltaic modules. The country-specific provisions are even more strict here than the EU standard. For us this means that since 2013 we have been working with a specialised laboratory, accredited by the Italian interior ministry, for the analysis of fire safety classes for poly and monocrystalline modules in the IBC SOLAR Line. Visit to the IBC SOLAR test facility III: Performance measurement

A walk through our test facility allows you to immerse yourself in the history of photovoltaics. Modules from many generations, some already a decade and a half old, show how technology has changed. Guest author and product manager René Schüler presents special test objects in a blog series and provides background knowledge to cell technologies and typical ageing effects. Using thermographic images, he looks into the interior of the modules in the last part of our series. (more…)

4th Premium Partner Summit: Hot wheels in Valencia

The Spanish solar sector is said to be on rebirth as Spain’s solar demand grew by 145% in 2017. Most of the newly installed capacity of 135 MW was built in self-consumption and off-grid projects. The Iberian Peninsula is also an important market for us again. Therefore our 4th Regional Partner Summit was held in Valencia. (more…)

New module technologies: LHS, half-cut, MBB

The terms Light Harvesting Strings (LHS), half-cut (HC) cells and multi-busbar (MBB) are constantly appearing in the current discussion on photovoltaic modules. They promise higher yields and higher efficiencies. Our guest author René Schüler explains what this is all about. (more…)
