The presentation of new and improved mounting systems was one of the focus points at this year’s Intersolar Europe. On all three days of the trade fair, we were able to welcome visitor groups at our booth as part of the “PV Guided Tours” presented by the online magazine PV Europe. The MENA region (the Middle East and North Africa) is becoming an increasingly important sales market for the German solar industry. The high level of sunlight as well as government support and funding programmes and ambitious climate protection goals are helping the solar market in Arabic-speaking countries to gain momentum. Insecure, loud and sooty – these were the characteristics of the power supply for the fishing village Aftissat in the south of Morocco until about 2 years ago. Now the situation has changed fundamentally thanks to a modernisation campaign by the Moroccan fisheries authority (ONP). Our Moroccan specialist partner SEWT sarl has tackled the problem and developed a photovoltaic-based energy supply for the village. The new solar hybrid system not only provides fishermen with electricity around the clock, but is also environmentally friendly and contributes to the country’s ambitious climate protection targets.
