2023 will be the year of n-type modules

2023 appears to be a year of technological innovation for solar modules. Two trends in particular are expected to determine production in the industry: First of all, there will be improved efficiency thanks to the increasing use of n-type M10 solar cells. In addition, higher capacity is to be expected, with a particular focus on weight and size. (more…)

IBC SOLAR modules convince in Fraunhofer LeTID test

We frequently report on the in-depth quality tests that our products have to undergo on a regular basis. In addition to internal tests, external institutes also put our products through their paces. In this context, the Fraunhofer Centre for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP conducted a LeTID test on our current IBC SOLAR module types at the end of last year. And this much in advance: all modules of the IBC SOLAR own brand completed the test procedure with excellent results. (more…)

New module formats and packaging challenges in distribution

The global photovoltaic market has grown considerably in recent years. In concrete terms, this can already be seen in the preliminary product, the silicon wafer. Here, the expansion of production capacities in 2021 increased by an impressive 64 %. It is also evident that the supply is more diversified. Good profit margins have brought new market participants and driven both small and large companies to expand. Our module partners LONGI SOLAR at No. 1 and JINKO SOLAR at No. 3 among the world’s largest wafer manufacturers, together with Zhonghuan (No. 2) dominate global wafer capacity with more than 80%. Vertically integrated module manufacturers have also significantly increased their internal supply capacities. Thus, another 134 gigawatts of capacity could likely be added in 2022. (more…)

Current market trends from the perspective of solar installers, Part II

On the occasion of our 40th anniversary, we took the opportunity to conduct a market and industry survey among our Premium Partners in Germany. Because in the course of our 40-year company history, the feedback and experience of our partners was and is always very important to us. In the first blog post, we presented the first half of the survey results and reported on what homeowners and commercial customers value most today when purchasing PV systems and storage systems. The second part addresses the questions of what installers value most and where they see PV going in the future. (more…)
