“Mounting systems” blog series part 7: Flat roof – safety – How many guardian angels have we already used?

Flat roofs are still of high relevance when it comes to the installation of PV systems. As already explained in previews articles of this blog series, the usage of roofs will change from not-used to used as soon as a PV system is installed. This results in a potential danger that previously safe work paths are now blocked. Therefore, the risk analysis has changed which particularly effects necessary work on roofs. In this sense, it may happen that paths for roof work, for example for the maintenance and servicing of water pipes or climate or ventilation systems which are now within  fall hazard areas. In such cases, a safe working condition within this area is important. System operators as well as designated companies are in charge of the responsibility to create a risk analysis.(more…)

Time for garden maintenance

Apart from the annual technical maintenance of a solar park,  the right garden maintenance is also an important factor in order to guarantee the optimal operation of a solar park. However, this is not as easy as it may sound. Especially, as not all areas of a solar park are easy to access. We took the opportunity to have a closer look and visited Jan Kretzschmar, gardener for IBC SOLAR’s  local solar power parks. During our visit, we also took the chance to have a quick chat. (more…)

PPA – new potential for the solar park market

When dealing with renewable energy plants, the term “PPA” pops up again and again. The abbreviation PPA stands for “Power Purchase Agreement” and is a special form of a power supply contract, as you might enter into for your own home, as a private person, with an energy supplier, for example. Solar parks and bees: a real dream team!

Ever since the “Save the bees” initiative in Germany, we have known how important it is to protect the bees. Solar parks also have an important role to play here. They do much more than just generate environmentally-friendly electricity. They also offer the basic conditions for beekeepers to keep their bees in solar parks with a diverse vivid flora. IBC SOLAR employee and amateur beekeeper Rudolf Tranziska also uses this option. He started his hobby eight years ago. He currently looks after his many bees with his grandson Mika and tells us why solar parks and bees are a real dream team.  (more…)
